Mattie earned their Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Illinois Chicago. They are a pelvic floor specialist trained to treat all genders, with a special interest in caring for transgender patients facing unique challenges and barriers, including post-surgical care for top and bottom surgery, and the management of unwanted side effects of HRT.
They take a holistic, trauma-informed approach to pelvic health, and represent a new approach to training practitioners, having received in-depth training and supervision for pelvic floor physical therapy during their doctorate program. They have continued their education by pursuing a CAPP-Pelvic certification from the APTA Academy of Pelvic Health.
With over a decade as a martial arts instructor, they have maintained a keen eye for body mechanics to assess orthopedic performance and enjoy collaborating with patients to find out what it means to challenge and heal their bodies.

Outside of work Mattie continues training and teaching at a not-for-profit martial arts school, working with kids and adults. They enjoy reading 19th and 20th-century philosophy when time is available, love a long hike, and are currently learning to play the double-flute.
