Keep Moving — For Your Own Health and For Your Family’s

Women’s health and Pregnancy

Perinatal physical therapy can alleviate pain and symptoms associated with childbearing and prepare you for a healthy birth. Additionally, rehabilitation of deep core and pelvic floor muscles helps to maximize healing in the postpartum stage.

We encourage partners to attend at least one session so we can teach them techniques to help reduce your pain during pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Feel free to bring your children to PT, so we can show you how to care for them—while also caring for yourself!

Common reasons to see a Pelvic PT during this stage of life include:

  • Routine pelvic floor musculoskeletal exam and assessment
  • Preparation for healthy birth and delivery
  • Neck/shoulder pain
  • Low back pain with or without sciatica
  • Sacroiliac joint or pelvic girdle pain
  • Pubic symphysis, round ligament or groin pain
  • Abdominal separation/diastasis recti
  • Pain or difficulty with intercourse
  • Difficulty with childcare tasks: feeding, lifting, carrying, etc
  • Pelvic organ prolapse or heaviness in saddle area
  • Weakness and swelling
  • Urinary, fecal or gas leakage
  • C-section scar healing and core strengthening
